A Historic Event for Psychology in Colombia
Under the slogan “United for Psychology,” for the first time more than 200 experts in the field of psychology from Colombia, Europe and the Americas, gathered in three cities of Colombia, where they conducted workshops, gave conferences, participated in symposiums and presented posters, as part of COLPSIC’s Second National Psychology Congress and COLPSIC-ASCOFAPSI’s First International Psychology Congress, which took place on the 20th, 21st and 22nd of August, 2009. This event was conducted simultaneously in the cities of Bogotá, Cartagena and Medellín, and had over 20 international lecturers, as well as 10 Colombian lecturers who are conducting their research in several countries around the world, and over 200 Colombian experts in 18 psychology sub-fields. Around 2,500 persons, mostly psychology students, attended the event in the three cities.
This constitutes the largest and most important event of its kind that the psychology profession has conducted until this date, and we hope that it will become a model for future scientific and professional congresses that take place in Colombia in the future.
The Congress was organized jointly by the Colegio Colombiano de Psicólogos—COLPSIC, a professional entity that represents Colombia’s psychological community, and by the Asociación Colombiana de Facultades de Psicología—ASCOFAPSI, an organization that was created over 20 years ago and which now has over 40 psychology university programs affiliated throughout Colombia.
We want to invite all the psychologists and the general public, the persons who participated in the Congress and the ones who did not, to take a look at this Website, the official Internet page of the Congress, where they will be able to find all the information about this event: generalities, academic content, lecturers and panelists who participated, synopses and presentations of the conferences, as well as videos and photographs.
